IDEIA: Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act

  • We will meet the needs of all exceptional learners. 
  • IDEA covers 13 disabilities that students can receive accommodations for. 
  • As a teacher, I am required by law to accommodate these students with an IEP. 


ESSA (NCLB revised): Every Student Succeeds Act 

  • A revision of the No Child Left Behind Act. 
  • No Child Left Behind required states to create standards to hold students and teachers accountable for meeting them. 
  • ESSA put more power back into the states hands. 


FERPA: Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

  • We are required to protect our students educational records. 
  • We must protect the anonymity of our students.
